Ruth Dubiel

April 3, 1930 — February 20, 2025

YOUNGSTOWN - Ruth Dubiel, 94, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, at Briarfield Manor, at the age of 94.

She was born on April 3, 1930, in Youngstown, the daughter of John and Mary Fedor Matiscik.

Ruth was a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, embarking on a career that showcased her creativity and talent as a hair stylist at Higbee's in downtown Youngstown.

Ruth's faith was an integral part of her life as she was a dedicated member of St. Christine Church.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Ruth found joy in golfing and spending time in nature. She was also an enthusiastic cook and baker, creating delicious meals and sweet treats that became a hallmark of her home. Her holidays were especially cherished times when all her grandchildren would gather, as they loved visiting their Gram and sharing in the warmth and love she provided.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Sheri (Scott) Summers of Boardman and Monica (James) Beshara of Liberty; her sons, David (Hannah) Dubiel of Columbus and John Dubiel of Youngstown; and her beloved brother, John Matiscik of Columbus. She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren and delighted in the joy of eight great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Ruth is now reunited with her late husband, Chester Dubiel, whom she married on July 5, 1952, and died January 18, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Loretta Gerberry and Esther Morris; and her brothers, John, Herman, and Richard Matiscik.

A private service was at St. Christine Church with family.

Professional arrangements were handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
