Ruth Ann Slattery Finch, 74

YOUNGSTOWN - There will be services Friday at 12:45 p.m. at the
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, and at 1:30 p.m. at the
Immaculate Conception Church for Ruth Ann Slattery Finch, 74, of New Bern,
N.C., who died Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Two Rivers Healthcare Center in New
Bern.
Ruth was born June 11, 1933 in Youngstown, the daughter of Michael and Ruth
Hart Slattery.
A 1951 graduate of East High School, she also graduated from the Northside
Hospital School of Nursing and the University of North Carolina.
As a registered nurse, her professional career began in Youngstown, working
for several area doctors and for Southside Hospital. She later worked at
the Twin Rivers Nursing Home in New Bern, and Britthaven Nursing Home of
Pamlico. After her retirement, she continued caring for others as a
volunteer at the Craven Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in New Bern.
Ruth Ann is survived by her husband, George C. Finch of New Bern; four
children, Helen Marie Sainato Tepfer of Stokesdale, N.C., James K. Finch of
Jefferson City, Mo., Allison F. Doriss of Phoenix, Md., and Scott E. Finch
of Hawthorne, N.Y.; her mother, Ruth Slattery of Youngstown; a sister, Peg
Slattery of New Springfield; four grandchildren, Christopher Hopper of
Stokesdale, Jack Doriss of Phoenix, and Michael and Matthew Tepfer of
Stokesdale; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Slattery Sr., and two
brothers, Michael Slattery Jr. and Edward Slattery Sr.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
