YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. for Ruth P. Kramer Kent, 89, who passed away peacefully Saturday morning at her home.
Ruthie was born May 1, 1923, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph W. Kramer Sr. and Katherine Kramer Granchie.
Ruthie attended Holy Name School and graduated from Chaney, June class of 1941. She worked in the offices of Pittsburgh Plate, Meals on Wheels, Jo Annn Fabric, G.E., and had a shop at Theron's Country Fleamarket for 35 years. She was Holy Name's first CCD instructor and a member of Catholic Daughters, Court of St. Anne.
Ruthie married her sweetheart, Jacob R. Kent Sr. on Aug. 4, 1941, and he passed away Feb. 29, 1994.
Ruthie leaves her sons, Jacob Kent Jr. of Mansfield, Lawrence Kathy Kent of Youngstown, and Richard Kent of Youngstown; her daughters-in-law, Rosemary Kent of Austintown and Sharon Kent of Poland; her sister, Rita Friend of South Carolina; her 10 grandchildren, Nicole Ron Strollo, Diane Stone, Rachelle Joe Severn, Kristen Scott Grant, Roberta Rob Pennington, Lisa Sam Elshami, Joseph A. Jr., Christopher Clari, James Brandy and Ashley; and 16 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Rachel, Jennifer, Jessica, Samantha, Joseph, Jacob, Peyton, Layla, Akram, Dahlia, Zak, Emma, Sarah, Jenna and Sophia.
Ruthie was also preceded in death by her sons, Joseph and Aaron; daughter-in-law Ruth Elaine; her sister, Frances; and her brothers, Joseph and Simeon.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Rich and his staff for all of their help and care, and from MVI Hospice, Bub, Angela, Mesha, Stephanie, Brandy and Patty.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Cursillo Bible Vigil to follow.
Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
