POLAND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. Philip Rogers, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for Mrs. Sally Anne Howley, 87, who died peacefully, late Sunday night at Humility House, after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Howley was born on April 3, 1929, in Youngstown, daughter of John P. and Helen C. (Gallagher) Carney, and was a lifelong resident.

Sally was a 1947 graduate of Ursuline High School. In her younger years, she worked at McKelvey's and General Fireproofing, then devoted the rest of her life to caring for her family.

She leaves behind to cherish all their precious memories, her husband of 65 years, Thomas A., whom she married June 23, 1951, at St. Edward Church; a daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Sullivan of McKinney, Texas; sons John T. (Melinda) Howley of Columbiana, and Kenneth W. (Laurie) of Canfield, and Eileen Mackin (Robert) Dorinski of Coon Rapids, Minn. She leaves nine grandchildren, Michael Sullivan, Kelli Sullivan (Jeremy) Green, Kimberly Howley (Justin) KIrschner, Karrie Howley Daugherty, Katie Howley (Keith) Mead, Sarah Howley (Tim) Buckley, Robert Howley, Christine Dorinski and Stephen (Laura) Dorinski. She also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren, Ryder and Emersyn Green, Isabella Kirschner, Kayla Daugherty, Taylor and Dylan Mead, Colin and Sloane Buckley, and Joshua and Genevieve Dorinski, and many nephews and nieces. Sally also leaves two sisters-in-law, Sr. Lin Howley O.P. and Mrs. Rachel Carney.

Besides her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her sister, Helen E. Carney; and a brother, John P. Carney.

Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
