Samuel Savon

AUSTINTOWN - A memorial service will be held Saturday at noon at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for Samuel R. Savon, 58, who died Tuesday morning, at home.

Samuel was born Nov. 14, 1956, in Youngstown, the son of Felix S. Savon and Nadine (Stephancevich) Roman.

He was a 1975 graduate of Struthers High School and worked as a self-employed contractor for Savon Remodeling Co. for 40 years, until retiring in 2012.

Samuel enjoyed gardening, taking care of his fruit trees, bird watching, especially eagles and hummingbirds, swimming, and playing cards. Above all, Samuel loved the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his fiancé, Jenny McDonough; his former wife, Susan Savon of Austintown; parents Felix (Christina) Savon of Canfield and Nadine Roman of Austintown; six daughters, Yvonne M. Savon (Beth Campbell) of Carrolton, Jennifer L. Savon of Austintown, Bridget N. (Wallace) Shacklock of Youngstown, Brianna E. and Angelina M. Savon, both of Youngstown, and Yvonne R. Manley (Shelly Leventry) of Struthers; a son, Samuel R. (Angel M.) Savon II of Braceville; four sisters, Cindy (Wayne) Anderson of Struthers, Debbie (Joe) Maughan of Warren, Robin Ivany (Lynan Popio) of Canfield, and Karen (Edward) Valantine of Canfield; three brothers, David (Lauren) Savon of Washingtonville, Paul (Linda) Savon of Poland, and Michael Roman (Carol Neubecker) of Youngstown; and nine grandchildren, Madison, Jordan, Landon, Deacon, Katherine, Nicole, Rachel, Gabriella and Payton.

He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert V. Roman and his grandparents, Paul and Irene Stepancevich.

Family and friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
