CANFIELD - Sandra S. Harris, 81, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening at Hospice House, with her loving family at her bedside.
Mrs. Harris was born on Feb. 20, 1935, in Cleveland, daughter of Harlow and Elinor (Ferguson) Salter.
She graduated from Shaker Heights High School, and later attended Southern Methodist University. After college, Sandra began her career as a teller for National City Bank.
Sandra enjoyed watching plays, and musicals at local theaters, ballet dancing with her husband, and cross stitching. She also liked to read, do crossword puzzles, and visit Red Bird Beach.
Most importantly, Sandra was known as being the kindest, gentlest woman around, and loved spending time with her family, especially her two great-grandchildren.
Sandra's husband, Edward E. Harris, whom she married on Nov. 20, 1957, died Oct. 31, 1996.
Sandra leaves to cherish all their wonderful memories, her son, Kingsley Harris, with whom she made her home; sister Jeanie (Dr. Jeffrey) Hutzler of Florida; four grandchildren, Melissa Gahagan of Canfield, Emily (Doug) Hill of West Salem, Jonathan Gahagan of Indiana, and Matthew Faust of Kansas; and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Harlow and Elinor, and husband Edward, Sandra was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Catherine Blake; sister Barbara Philips; and son-in-law Stephen Blake.
Following Sandra's wishes, a family memorial service will take place at a later date at Red Bird Beach.
The family requests that contributions be made in Sandra's name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
