AUSTINTOWN - Services will be Monday at 9:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Sarah F. Cheredar age 81 of Austintown who died Thursday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Sarah was born April 1, 1924, in Niles, Ohio, the son of Harry and Jennie DeCello Fanto.
She was a 1942 graduate of Lowellville High School, and had worked as a salesperson and supervisor for the Austintown Strouss Department Store in its Housewares and Linens department for over 20 years retiring from Kauffmans in 1987. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church its Senior Citizens, and was a member and past president of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Columbian Federation Ladies Auxiliary Lodge # 55 where she had also served as president, was a charter member of AARP Chapter 4339 in Austintown, ITAM Post # 3, American Legion Post #301, the Mill Creek Chapter of the American Business Women's Association, the Cornersburg Happy Seniors, and had been a longtime member of the Austintown 4th of July Committee.
She is survived by a daughter Deborah Lynn Roger Williams of Gilford, NH, a son Stephen Nancy Cheredar of Palm Habor, FLA, a sister Mary Jane Duncan of Youngstown, and four grandsons Jonathan and Evan Williams, and Thomas and Christopher Cheredar.
Her husband Stephen Cheredar whom she married July 28, 1951, died December 26, 1997.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers James, Joseph, Harry Jr., and John Fanto.
