Youngstown . . . .Private graveside services were held today for family and friends for Sarah Sally L. Lyle who entered the spirit world on Wednesday November 26, 2008 with her loving family by her side.

Sally will forever be warmly remembered and loved by her family, friends and students.
She was born August 13, 1921 in Vanderbilt , PA. the first child and only daughter of Philip and Charlotte Morgan Hagerty and grew up in South western Pa. and Brownlee Woods in Struthers.

Sally was a 1939 graduate of South High School and earned a B.S. degree in nursing from St. Elizabeth School of nursing in conjunction with Youngstown College. She did postgraduate work at Brown University under the tutelage of her beloved mentor, Miss Windley and served as a R.N. for the naval forces in Newport , R.I. during WWII.

She worked as a R.N. at the Southside Hospital emergency Room for 10 years and was the anatomy and physiology professor for 23 years at Choffin for the LPN Program and was much beloved by her scores of students.

Sally was an avid gardener and an absolute master of the art of crocheting. Her many remarkable beautiful creations remain cherished possessions of those many friends who received her gloves, sweaters and quilts.

She was also quite the intrepid and inveterate traveler who toured much of Canada and reveled in the multitudes of N.P.'s of the Great American West. A lover of both oceans, trees, birds and the bees. She retained an extensive and personal photographic record of her multiplicity of adventuresome roaming's both alone and with her 3 children.

She is survived by her three children David Alan Lyle of North Hollywood, Ca. Philip Raymond"C.K.# Lyle of Youngstown and Sheilah Ann Raymond Prest of Ellsworth Township , grandson Jeffrey S. Prest and a brother Philip J. Hagerty of Leigh Acres, Florida as well as scores of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved brother William " Billy" Hagerty in WWII and her infant son, Johnny in 1953.

Burial took place at Forest Lawn cemetery she will be beside her beloved Mom and Dad.

Arrangements are by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
