AUSTINTOWN - Services will be Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Shirley Irene Savich Douvis, 74, who went to be with the Lord Saturday, Dec. 25.
Shirley was born May 24, 1936, in McKees Rocks, Pa., the daughter of John and Florence Stagg Felix.
Shirley worked at St. Elizabeth Health Center as a nurses aid for three years, at Southside Hospital for 27 years, mostly in the Emergency Room, and 12 years at Heritage Manor in Youngstown. She later provided private duty nursing that included 12 years as a live in nurse for Mrs. Dorothy Butler. She retired with over 53 years of nursing service. She will always be remembered as a very devoted employee and always treated her patients as family.
Dorothy had recently moved to Columbiana a year ago.
She leaves behind with fond memories, her twin sister, Sharlene Easterday of Youngstown; a sister, Margie Lewis of Columbiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband of 34 years, Frank Savich; her second husband of 10 years, Thomas Douvis; a brother, John Felix; and a sister, Elaine Patrick.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
