Shirley Wells

December 20, 1931 — March 14, 2010

AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will begin Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Shirley A. Wells, 78, who died Sunday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Shirley was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Youngstown, the daughter of Wilbur J. and Mary Lou Hall Ross.

A 1950 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, she worked as a teller for Mahoning National Bank for over 20 years, before retiring in 1993. Shirley?s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Her husband, Harold J. ?Brother? Wells, whom she married July 26, 1952, died Dec. 30, 1993.

She is survived by five daughters, Debbie A. Bill Kolenich of Austintown, Karen Nick Cooper of Canfield, Sue Andy Koval of Youngstown, Kim Jeff Lambert of Columbus and Cindy Marty Krause of Youngstown; a son, Thomas J. Mandy Wells of Margate, Fla.; a sister, Judy DeSalvo of Howland; a sister-in-law and best friend, Kathleen Jim Pallai of Youngstown; two brothers-in-law, Parker McHenry of Austintown and James T. Wells of Poland; and 13 grandchildren, Katie and Kelli Kolenich, Nicholas and Amy Cooper, Andrew and Ashley Koval, Chloe and Hailey Wells, Brittany and Zach Lambert and Matthew, Amanda and Michael Krause.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy McHenry; and a brother-in-law, Larry DeSalvo.

Friends may call today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.

The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the donor?s favorite charity in Shirley?s memory.
