Simon Sarkis

BOARDMAN ­ There will be services at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Maron Church for Simon J. Sarkis, 65, who passed away Monday evening at The Ohio State University Medical Center after a two-month illness.

Simon was born Feb. 2, 1941 in Batroun County, Lebanon, the son of Hanna and Nahil Dwine Sarkis.

A member of UAW Local #1112 he had retired from GM Lordstown as a maintenance technician and was a
member of St Maron Church and its St. Tobias Society.

He is survived by his wife, the former Frances A. Thomas, whom he married Aug. 25, 1965; a daughter, Karen Sarkis and husband Joseph Salasovich of Washington, D.C.; two sons, and Brian Carrie Sarkis of Columbus, and John Sarkis; two grandchildren, Neila and Roman Sarkis; four sisters, Hoda, Selwa, Selma, and Leila, and three brothers, Pierre, Nadim, and Phillpe all in Lebanon.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Stefan, and Saadallah.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Boardman-Canfield Chapel, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
