POLAND - Early Thursday morning, Susan J. Mootz, 90, was led to her Heavenly home by the loving hand of her Savior.
Services for Susan will be held Monday at 9 :30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel 2726 Center Road Route 224 in Poland with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, 2729 Center Road in Poland.
Sue was one of nine children born to Charles and Mary Lippa Didek of Youngstown on Sept. 4, 1921. She was a lifelong area resident and longtime member of Holy Family Parish in Poland.
A 1939 graduate of East High School, Sue later worked in the accounting department of Republic Steel, where she met her future husband of 60 years, Daniel.
After her first child, she became a full-time mother, lovingly nurturing her children and caring for her family for many years. Sue's Christian faith was strong, and she raised her children to love and follow God's word.
After her children were in high school, Sue worked as a Sales Associate at Casual Corner in the Southern Park Mall, where she received awards for sales and customer service. Having a unique ability to expertly match her clients with appropriate clothing, she gained a following and reputation as a caring and thoughtful salesperson.
Over the last many years, Sue loved traveling with her husband while making numerous visits throughout the East Coast, including Connecticut, and later California for family gatherings. She also loved to read, and was a wonderful cook, often creating and later authoring several specialty recipes, including her own blend of spices known by the family as "Suzy Spice."
Sue leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Daniel of Poland; her daughter, Danis Sue Mootz of Boardman; and her son, Daniel wife Donna; granddaughters Kaylin and Alayna "Nadia" of Mountain View, Calif.; along with several nieces and nephews.
Sue is also survived by a sister, Julie Yaroscak of New Middletown and by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Pete and John Didek; and five sisters, Helen Frekotich, Anne Sinowski, Elizabeth Mokrovich, Margaret Didek, and Mary Coloutes.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Hospice House within Assumption Village for their care and compassion given to Susan in her final hours.
Material contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the Muscular Dystrophy Association, two organizations Sue supported and valued for helping children.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
