CANFIELD - Friends may call from 2PM to 6PM Sunday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Swaran Singh Sasan age 71 of Canfield formerly of Jammu, J&K, India, who died Thursday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center after a three month illness.
Swaran was born October 20, 1933 in Bagh, Poonch, Pakistan, the son of Dayal Singh and Jamuna Kour.
He had worked for the J & K State Electricity Board for over 33 years retiring as the chief electrical engineer in 1991. After his retirement he was nominated to serve as a member of the board of the public service commission, and also served as a consultant to the World Bank. He later served as a technical advisor to the J & K state government. He was a member of the Guru Nanak Foundation in Richfield, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife Baljit Kour whom he married October 11, 1959, two daughters, Gurpreet Kour and husband Gurmeet Reen of Jammu, India, and Gurmeet Kour and husband Jaspal Singh of Boston, Massachusetts, two sons, Dr. Digvijay Singh and wife Parminder of Canfield, and Manjot Singh and wife Verinder of Aurora, Ohio, two sisters, Sarbans Kour and Agya Kour Jammu, India, three brothers, Sulakhan Singh, Harbans Sasan, and Anoop Singh, all of Jammu, India, and seven grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Tarlok Singh Adol.
