YOUNGSTOWN - Services will be Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Thaddeus J. "Ted" Melewski, 76, who died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Ted was born Nov. 5, 1936, the son of Seigmend T. and Mary H. Kos Melewski.
He was a 1955 graduate of Youngstown South High School and later served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962.
Ted was employed for 25 years as a Licensed Optician and Department Manager for Cole National at Sears in Southern Park Mall.
Previously, he had worked for General Fireproofing and Republic Steel Corporation. After retirement, he worked security at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Youngstown, and spent his leisure time fishing, boating and visiting casinos. He was of the Catholic faith and had been a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
Ted is survived by a daughter, Lisa L. Craig Puhalla of Moon Township, Pa.; a son, Ted Kris Melewski Jr. of Boardman; six grandchildren, Jared, Julia, Jenna and Jacob Puhalla, and Michael and Marisa Melewski; a sister, Geraldine McKracken of Boardman; a brother, Raymond R. Melewski of Canfield; a goddaughter, Barbara Alexander of Youngstown; his friend, Charlene Bair of Youngstown; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cats, Tic and Tac.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
