AUSTINTOWN - Services will be Friday at 11:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Thelma M. Johns age 86 of Austintown who died peacefully at her home Monday evening surrounded by her family.
Thelma was born September 29, 1919, in Youngstown, the daughter of William and Lilly Powell McLaughlin.
A lifelong area resident Thelma graduated from South High School in 1938, worked at for R.C. Russo Architects, and Dr. John Noll as a secretary, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Her husband William Johns whom she married April 19, 1941, died April 10, 1984.
She is survived by two daughters Jacquelyn Lynn Stambaugh of Boardman, and Karen David Schnurrenberger of Austintown, five grandchildren Tracy John Bernard-Linesch, David Bernard, and David W., Katie, and Daniel Schnurrenberger, and a great-grandson John Henry Linesch IV and a niece Shirley Frank Schmidt.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a sister Irma Hendricks.
The family would like to publicly and gratefully thank Dr. William Reeves, his nurses and Hospice of the Valley for their compassion, wisdom, and excellent care.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market Street Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM Thursday evening and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday morning at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
