POLAND - Theresa R. Kulifay, 88, died peacefully Sunday, March 10, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.
Theresa was born May 6, 1935, in Leetonia, the daughter of Samuel and Marietta Coccari Ferry.
She dedicated 26 years of her life as the head cook for the Poland School before retiring. Theresa's love for cooking extended beyond her professional life as she adored spending time in the kitchen creating meals for her loved ones. Her commitment to providing nourishment and care was felt by all who knew her.
Outside of work, Theresa enjoyed various hobbies and interests. She was a former member of Our Lady of Sorrows, St. Matthias Church, and the Infant Jesus of Prague, with Holy Family Church being her current place of worship. Gardening and music were among her favorite pastimes, but above all, Theresa cherished moments spent with her grandchildren and the loving companionship of her cherished animals.
Theresa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John R. Kulifay, whom she married on Sept. 19, 1959. She also joins her siblings Lena Everett, Rose Chestnut, Jensie Campbell, Carmen Ferry, Joe Ferry, Danny Ferry, Johnny Ferry; as well as her son-in-law David Casler and daughter-in-law Jeanette Kulifay.
Left to cherish Theresa's memory are her daughters Mary Kay Casler of Poland and Annette (Rick) Hamilton of Brunswick, GA; sons John Kulifay of Poland and Dan (Rosanne) Kulifay of Poland; seven grandchildren: Samuel, John, Dan, Aaron, Josh (Tessa), JT (Maysson), and Corey; two great-grandchildren: Barrett and Colt; along with brother-in-law Jim Campbell and sister-in-law Shirley Ferry.
Family and friends may call Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 4 to 7 pm at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel. A Prayer Service will be held Friday, March 15, 2024 at 9:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Holy Family Church.
She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
