GIRARD - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at St. Rose Church in Girard at noon for Thomas H. "Dick" Lowry, 91, who died Wednesday morning at home, surrounded by his family.
Dick was born March 22, 1923, in Youngstown, to John and Mary (McNicholas) Lowry.
He was a 1941 graduate of Ursuline High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Dick began his career at Dollar Savings & Trust as a banker and retired as the Senior Vice President.
His wife, the former Dorothy Bradley, whom he married May 17, 1947, died June 11, 2005.
There was nothing Dick and Dorothy loved more than their 10 children and all of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dick is survived by four daughters, Janice (Joe) Castiglione of Marshfield, Mass., Mary Frances Cunningham of McDonald, Patricia (Rick) Durkin of Ellsworth, and Anne (Mark) Badertscher of Vero Beach; six sons, Thomas Lowry (Jennifer Hanigosky) of Boardman, Christopher Lowry (Chuck Smith) of Naples, Fla., Mark (Mary) Lowry of Gilbert, Ariz., Robert (Maureen) Lowry of Broomall, Pa., William (Sherri) of McDonald, and Matthew Lowry of Lakewood; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Martin Lowry, and a sister, Gertrude Lowry.
Family and friends may call for one hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers and neighbors who helped the family through this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to MVI Hospice Care or Beatitude House.
