Thomas Mcgahagan

AUSTINTOWN - A prayer service will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Austintown for Thomas "Tom" W. McGahagan, 84, who died peacefully Sunday morning at Hospice House.
He was born April 17, 1929, in Youngstown, a son of Thomas and Margaret Reardon McGahagan.
Tom was a 1947 Ursuline High School graduate, a Navy veteran, a member of the church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister, an usher and on the renewal team.
He retired from Youngstown Sheet and Tube as a melter and then was head custodian with the Austintown School System. He was on the IHM Golf League and the Lakeside Golf League.
Besides raising 12 children with his lovely wife, Anna Marie, he was an avid sports fan of Notre Dame, the Cleveland Indians, Austintown Fitch and his alma mater, Ursuline.
Tom leaves his wife, the former Anna Marie Biggins, whom he married Sept. 3, 1949, their 12 children, Tom (Debbie) McGahagan, Kathy Mackos, Mickey McGahagan, Meg (Mike) Callahan, Mary Ann McGahagan, Eileen (George) Lawson, Dan (Sheri) McGahagan, Nancy (Mark) D'Errico, Terry (Randy) Love, Kelly (Jim) Braga, Beth (Ralph) Magliocca and Karen (Mike) Sciortino; 30 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Peg McGlone and Mary (Tom) Pompura; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Champ McGahagan.
Friends may call Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Clare Bridge of Austintown and Hospice House for the lovely care that was given to Tom.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
