BOARDMAN - Thomas E. Murphy, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024.
Tom was born Sept. 20, 1937, in Youngstown, son of the late Paul and Frances Murray Murphy.
After graduating from Ursuline High School, Tom began his career at Youngstown Paint and Glass. Years later, he found his passion as a newscast director at WKBN. At WKBN, he dedicated himself to producing and delivering news broadcasts that were accurate, informative and relevant to the community.
Tom proudly served his country in the Army National Reserve. Throughout his life, his unwavering commitment to his family was evident. He worked diligently to provide for those he cherished, instilling values of hard work and dedication in his children.
In addition to his professional achievements, Tom found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished every moment spent with his beloved dog, Gizmo, and especially treasured the time he shared with his family, always eager to create lasting memories.
His legacy lives on through his children, Tom (Janet) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jim Murphy of Youngstown and Patty (Bryan) Wilson of Youngstown; his grandchildren, Alicia, Hannah, Nicholas, Taylor, Bryan Jr. and Nicole; and two great-grandchildren, Alice and Evelyn. He also leaves brothers-in-law, Jack Burns of San Antonio, Texas, and Richard (Joann) Burns of Boardman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Burns Murphy, whom he loved dearly for 54 years; his brother, Dr. Paul Murphy; and his sister, Marilyn Jacobs.
There will be no services at this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Angels for Animals in Canfield.
