Thomas J. Riley, 94
BOARDMAN - A Liturgical prayer service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, for Thomas J. Riley, 94 of
Youngstown, who passed away Sunday afternoon at Omni Manor Care Center.
Tom was born Jan. 16, 1913 in Mineral Ridge, the son of William A. and Mary
E. O'Malia Riley.
He had served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He had worked for
Youngstown Sheet and Tube, General Fireproofing, McKay Machine, Compco Metal
Products and had been a resident manager for Symco properties. He was a
member of St. Dominic Church the VFW No. 3767 in Hubbard and enjoyed baking
and making hook rugs.
His wife, the former Elizabeth H. McCarthy, whom he married June 21, 1982,
died Dec. 7, 1995.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Rita Mullarkey of Poland; a step-daughter,
Suzanne Robert Jones of Youngstown; four stepsons, Jerome R. Sheila
Hammar of Berton, George L. Lydia Hammar of Youngstown, Thomas D. Diane
Hammar of Poland and James Kathleen Hammar of Freedom; stepgrandchildren
and stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers,
James Riley and William Edgar Riley; and two sisters, Catherine Joshua and
Ellen Halt.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral
Home in Poland.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday morning at St. Dominic Church.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations
to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
