AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m., on Saturday, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, for Mr. Victor Rozzi Sr., 74, who died early Tuesday morning at Austinwoods Nursing Center in Austintown, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Rozzi was born on Oct. 23, 1941, in New Castle, Pa., son of Victor and Kay (DeGennaro) Rozzi, and was a lifelong resident of the Youngstown area.
Victor was a 1959 graduate of Chaney High School. He started his career as a painter at a very young age. As he grew older, he worked for Joseph's Painting, working for over 30 years, before retiring in 2004. Victor and his wife, Rose, were lifelong members of St. Joseph Church in Austintown.
He was an avid bowler and golfer. He loved to visit the casino, and play cards, especially with his couples card club.
Most importantly, Victor loved his family. He was known to never miss one of his grandchildren's sporting events.
Victor leaves the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, the former Rose Martino, whom he married on May 26, 1962.
He will be greatly missed by his three children, Debbie (Pat) Diana of Austintown, Renee (Steve) Yacovone of Mineral Ridge, and Victor (Missy) Rozzi Jr.; sister Kathy (Paul) Duncan of Youngstown; brother Pete (Judy) Rozzi of Austintown; 10 grandchildren, Patrick, Jordan, and Alexa Diana, Steven and Tara Yacovone, Michael, Nick, Alayna, Jadyn, and Gianni Rozzi; and in-laws Fred, Guy, Amy, Jerry, and Betty Martino.
Besides his parents, Victor was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother in-law, Guy and Annette Martino; and daughter-in-law Tammy Rozzi.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
