Victoria Bugno

AUSTINTOWN – A memorial service will be held on Thursday March 7, 2019, at 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Victoria L. Bugno, 71, who passed away from metastatic breast cancer on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at her home in Austintown.

“Vicki” was born Sept. 10, 1947, in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Stopnick) Radanovic. She grew up on the west side of Youngstown, graduating from Ursuline High School in 1965.

Her favorite subject in school was Latin, and she shared that one of her favorite things to do after school was to stop and get a chocolate malt downtown on the way home from school.

She graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in Education. She taught math at St. Christine’s School in Youngstown and also at South East Local. While working at South East Local, a coworker set her up on a blind date on Halloween. Her blind date turned out to be John Bugno, the love of her life, and she married him on May 6, 1972.

When her children were born, she worked from home as a seamstress. She was excellent at sewing, crafting many outfits and costumes for her children over the years.

She loved to read, and mystery novels were her favorite. She loved watching and discussing the news, indulging in scratch off lotto tickets, cooking way more food than her family could eat, and buying surprises for her grandchildren.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joseph Radanovic.

She is survived by her husband, John Bugno; her daughter, Mary Beth (Adam) Messner of North Canton; her son, Mark (Diane) Bugno of Boardman; her sister, Meg Johnson of Port Orange, Fla.; four grandchildren, Sydney, Nick, Olivia, and Josie; three nephews, John (Michelle) Lees, Ian (Sara) Michaels, and Simon (Angel) Bugno; and four nieces, Nicole (Josh) Proteau, Sara (Brian) Myers, Rebecca (Geoff) Marple, and Dayna Sammartino.

Family and friends may call Thursday from 5 to 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
