AUSTINTOWN - Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel for Vietta Lee "Vi" DuPonty, 70, who went to be with her heavenly father on Dec. 26, 2011.
Vietta was born in Youngstown, on Dec. 13, 1941, a daughter of Virginia Swoger and her stepfather, Samuel Swoger.
After graduating from Chaney High School in 1961, she married Joseph DuPonty Jr. in 1961, who preceded her in death in 1994.
Her greatest legacy to the world are her beautiful children and grandchildren.
She leaves two sons, Joseph Pam DuPonty III and Edward A. Maria DuPonty; her daughter, Cynthia L. Blevins; and seven grandchildren who were the love of her life, Jocelyn, Jessica, Dylan, Vano, Selena, Elijah, and Haylie.
She also leaves four brothers, and a sister, Bill Griffiths, David Griffiths, Sam Swoger, Ollie Cook, and Harold Swoger; and many nephews, nieces, brothers and sisters-in-law, and friends.
Vietta loved people. Her greatest achievement in life was Cakes Created by Vi. This was the business she built and made many brides happy. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, which was the time where she cooked the traditional Italian dinner.
Vietta was also survived by George E. Kelly, who was her friend and her love, who they spent so much time together, hunting in Colorado, dancing and being with friends. They were often teased about being Fred and Ginger.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
