AUSTINTOWN - Vincenzo James Santilli, 81, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening at his home.
Mr. Santilli was born on Dec. 22, 1934, in Pacentro, Italy, the son of Nicholas and Antonette (Agustelli) Santilli. He and his family traveled to the United States when he was 17 years old, and he had been an area resident ever since.
After Vincenzo graduated high school, he began working on the railroad for several different companies, and later worked for General Motors in the paint and repair plant, from where he retired after 22 years in 1989.
Vincenzo was very proud of his Italian heritage, and was involved in various Italian organizations. He was a lifelong member of the Pacentro Club and Sons of Italy. One of his favorite hobbies was making his home made wine.
Vincenzo will be lovingly missed by his wife of 42 years, the former Judy Savarin; three daughters, Marie Santilli, Ramona (Tom) Nowak and Tina (Dave) Patterson, all of Pennsylvania; two sons, James and Vince Santilli, also of Pennsylvania; two granddaughters; and two grandsons.
Besides his parents, Nicholas and Antonette, Vincenzo was preceded in death by his two brothers, Mario and Raymond Santilli.
Following his wishes, there will be no services or calling hours.
