POLAND - A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church for Mrs. Viola C. Vaughan, 90, who died Friday morning at Woodland Assistant Living.
She was born July 3, 1922, in Youngstown, a daughter of Anthony and Rose Bernard Polito.
Viola was a 1940 graduate of The Rayen School and retired in 1986 as an administrative assistant for the Mahoning County Recorders Office after 40 years. She was a member of the church, its Infant Jesus of Prague and the Altar Guild.
Viola was a member of the American Business Women Association, Past President for the Youngstown Chapter of American Business Women, Past President of the Holly Chapter of American Business Women and Woman of the Year recipient, Vice President of the Ohio Recorders Association, Past President of Mahoning County chapter of the Ohio Credit Union, Past President of the Federated Democratic Woman's Association and Woman of the Year recipient and a Precinct Committee Woman.
She married William Vaughan on May 10, 1980, and he died Dec. 27, 1999.
Viola leaves her special cousins, Betty DeLuca of Poland and Rose Mary Dr. Richard Memo of Poland; stepdaughter Mary Bill Cadman of Dallas; three stepsons, Thomas J. Jana Vaughan of Austin, Texas, Richard Marjorie Vaughan of Tucson, Texas, and William R. Mary Ellen Vaughan of Poland; and cousins Joan Dr. John Sculley, Bill and Don Smaltz.
Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
