BOARDMAN - Prayers will begin Thursday morning at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church for Virginia F. Caizzo, who died Saturday, May 1, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Virginia was born in Youngstown, the daughter of Anthony and Philomena Bovenzi Caizzo.
She attended the Sacred Heart School, graduated from East High School, and studied business at Youngstown College. She worked as a buyer for Strouss Department Store in Youngstown and later Higbee?s Department Store in Cleveland. Following her retirement in 1983, she moved to Venice, Fla. and returned to the area in 2007. She was a member of St. Charles Church.
An experienced traveler, Virginia journeyed throughout the United States and Europe as well as visited the continents of South America, Asia. Australia, and Africa. She enjoyed Broadway Theater, sharing stories with family and friends, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers and the OSU Buckeyes.
She is survived by her sister, Florence Zerbonia of Boardman, with whom she made her home; nieces and nephews, Donna Anthony Serluco of Boardman, Florence Colburn of Struthers, John Eleanor Sandy of Youngstown, Joseph Pat Sandy of Canfield, Angelo Dolores Iannucci of Boardman, Kay Chuck Beaky Iannucci of Sacramento, Calif., Clyde JoAnn Caiazza of Summerville, Fla., Donald Kristine Caiazza of Canfield, Robert Caiazza of Fairfax, Va., Joseph Caizzo of Norwalk and Nick Jean Caizzo of Minneapolis; nieces-in-law, Mary Calo Sandy of Boardman, Theresa Sandy of Poland and Sandra Sandy of Atlanta; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parent; three sisters, Margaret Sandy, Mary Iannucci and Sundale Caiazza; two brothers, Joseph and Nicholas Caizzo; a niece, Mary Sandy, two nephews, Anthony and William Sandy; and a great-niece, Mary Therese Sandy Neville.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Higgins- Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations in Virginia?s name to St. Jude's Children?s Hospital or the charity of the donor?s choice.
