POLAND Private funeral services were Saturday for Walter A. Martinko, 86,
who passed way Monday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Walter was born Aug. 2, 1930, in Youngstown, a son of the late Michael and
Anna (Lesko) Martinko.
Walter was a 1948 graduate of Ursuline High School. He received his
Bachelor¹s Degree from Youngstown College and his Master¹s Degree from
Westminster College.
Walter served in the U.S. Air Force during the time of the Korean War. He
was a teacher and guidance counselor for Youngstown City Schools.
He loved traveling, reading, listening to music and mostly getting together
with his family.
Walter leaves his wife, the former Louise Todor, whom he married Nov. 23,
1963; his children, Robert (Shelly Peet) Martinko and children Maya and
Stephen of Solon; Kenneth (Sharon) Martinko and children, Allen, Hannah, and
Kate of Newton Falls; and Elaine (Paul) Anderson and children Kaylin and
Eric of Aurora; and a brother, John Martinko of Poland.
Walter was preceded in death by his two brothers, Edward and Michael
Martinko.
Walter¹s family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of St.
Elizabeth Health Center for all of their care and compassion.
