Wilbur C. Wilson

July 23, 1948 — March 4, 2024

NORTH JACKSON - Wilbur C. Wilson, 75, died peacefully March 4, 2024 at home with his family by his side.

He was born on July 23, 1948, in Youngstown, the son of the late Wilbur O. and Beatrice (Boerio) Wilson.

Wilbur graduated from Jackson Milton High School in 1967.

His career began on the van assembly line at General Motors, where he poured his dedication and hard work for 47 years until his well-deserved retirement as a high lift driver in 2015.

Wilbur's commitment extended beyond his professional life. His passion for various interests spoke volumes about his vibrant personality. A member of St. James Church, Wilbur found solace and community in faith. Additionally, he actively participated in several organizations such as the Eagle Scout Troop #105, Ellsworth Sportsman Club, Salem Hunting Club, Rocky Mt. Elk Foundation, Pheasant Forever Club, and Whitetail Limited Club.

While many cherished memories of Wilbur will endure, one of his proudest accomplishments was the exhilarating hunting expedition to Maine in 2022. It was during this trip that Wilbur achieved a significant milestone by taking down a black bear—an experience that brought him immense joy and pride.

Outside of his professional and personal pursuits, Wilbur found joy in simpler pleasures like camping, fishing, woodworking and hunting—particularly relishing the adventures involved in pursuing pheasants and deer. His love for the outdoors and engaging with nature reflected his spirit of adventure and appreciation for life's simple beauties.

Wilbur's wife, the former Diane Masciangelo, whom he married Oct. 16, 1976, died April 23, 2020.

He is survived by his children, Rachel (Rob) Markwell of Chicago, Ruth (Adam) Savon of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Wilson of North Jackson and Wilbur P. Wilson of Nashville; sisters, Katherine (Don) Keener of North Jackson and Christine Locke of Austintown.

Family and friends may call Thursday, March 7th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Jackson-Milton Chapel. Additionally, there will be a visitation at Our Lady of the Lakes, St. James Church in North Jackson on March 8th from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM.

Lieu of flowers, the family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Boy Scouts Troop 105 or to St. James Church.
