AUSTINTOWN - Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel for William J. Angelo, 86, who passed away Monday morning at Canfield Place.
William was born Jan. 11, 1932, in Struthers, a son of the late Samuel and Margaret (Gaul) Angelo.
William graduated from Struthers High School and received a degree from Youngstown State University in Metallurgical Engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. William spent his work career as a foreman in the blast furnace for Republic Steel/LTV.
He was an avid fan of YSU football and basketball. He also enjoyed gardening, trips to Disney World and Toronto, and books on World War II.
He was devoted to his wife, and took great pride and interest in his grandchildren.
William leaves his wife of 61 years, the former Rose Marie Polish, whom he married Dec. 28, 1957; a daughter, Ann Stanbra of Toronto, Ontario; a son, (William) Jeffrey Angelo of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Justin Stanbra and Natalie (Adrian) Ho; and a great-grandson, Dean William Ho.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Entombment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
