BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Mr. William T. "Bill" Collins Jr., 73, who died Sunday morning.
He was born Sept. 29, 1938, in Youngstown, a son of William T. and Caryl Drake Collins Sr.
Bill was a lifetime resident of Boardman and a graduate of Boardman High School and Youngstown State University with a BSBA and a MBA and was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He was employed by Youngstown State University as its Financial Aid Director for 28 years, retiring in 1996. Bill was inducted into the 2003 Boardman High School Sports Hall of Fame for baseball and was a member of the Eagles on South Avenue.
Bill leaves his wife, the former Margaret Ann Ridel, whom he married Oct. 18, 1987; a daughter, Megan Collins of Canfield; three stepdaughters, Kasimira Vogel of Lakewood, Killeen Vogel of Willoughby and Kristin Tom Sailor of Boardman; a stepson, Bernie Vogel of Youngstown; and five grandchildren, Amber and Michael DelGarbino, John and Maggie Sailor and Alex Vogel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Tom Collins.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
