POLAND - Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel for William F. "Bill" Decker age 74 of Poland who passed away early Friday morning at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Bill was born September 27, 1932, in Findlay, the son of Merle and Opel Hicks Decker.
He was a 1950 graduate of Findlay High School, and later served in the Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He had worked in radio and television advertising sales in Findlay and Toledo before moving to the Youngstown area in 1979. He then began a career at WKBN where he began in sales and later retired after 20 years as the WKBN TV station manager.
After his retirement he worked in auto sales at Barrett Cadillac, State, Cole Valley and most recently at Stupka Motors.
He was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Elks # 75 in Findlay, and a lifetime member of Optimist International.
Mr. Decker also served on the Salvation Army advisory board, and as a trustee of the Oldstone Crossing condo association.
Bill is survived by his wife the former Janet "Jan" Collingwood whom he married February 11, 1967, his daughter Teresa A. Decker of Grove City, PA, and a sister-in-law Betty Jean Decker of Plano, TX.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother James Decker.
Friends may call from 4 PM to 8 PM Monday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to either the Poland United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army in Bills memory.
