CANFIELD - William J. Peake III, 74, died Thrusday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Austinwoods Nursing Center after a six-month illness.
He was born March 6, 1941, in Buffalo, N.Y., and was raised in Youngstown, where he attended South High School.
After high school, "Billy" served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961.
A carpenter by trade, Billy worked with D.A. Terreri and sons for most of his career. He retired from Carpenters Local No. 171 in 1996. He also used his carpentry skills to build the altar for the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown.
Billy loved fishing and watching his favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers. As a big Youngstown State University football fan, he was proud to have worked on both the east and west stands of YSU stadium.
He was also an active member of the AA Fellowship for more than 30 years, and served as a sponsor for several members.
Bill is survived by his three children, Leann Peake, William J. Peake IV, and Katie Peake; his sister, Mary Elizabeth Szablewski; brother Richard D. Peake; three grandchildren; three nieces,;and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Peake.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave. in Youngstown, with the Rev. Edward Noga officiating, and military honors immediately following.
Burial will take place at Addison Cemetery in Addison, Pa.
Family and friends may call from 9:15 until 10:15 a.m. at the church.

The Peake family has entrusted Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, with Billy's arrangements.
