CANFIELD - William G. Kinkade, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Select Specialty Hospital, Boardman, after a long illness.
He was born May 6, 1938, in Leitchfield, Ky., to James William Kinkade and Ella (Piesot) Kinkade.
"Bill" graduated from East Chicago Roosevelt High School in 1956, where he was a standout football player. Bill continued his football career at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. After completing his freshmen year, Bill joined the U.S. Army and was a member of the Airborne Rangers. He served three years with the majority of his time stationed in Germany. Upon discharge, Bill returned to DePauw to continue his education and football career. Bill was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, The Washington C. DePauw Society and graduated in 1963. While at DePauw University, he met the love of his life, Diane Lombard Kinkade, who he married May 9, 1964.
Bill worked for the Glidden Company, while residing in Indianapolis, and A.G. Becker & Co., while in Chicago, before moving his family to Canfield in 1969. Bill worked for the Lombard Corporation and PDI before founding Duo-Corp. in 1977, with his wife and partner, Diane. Bill enjoyed going to work every day, even after his retirement.
Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane (Lombard) Kinkade; his daughter, Traci (Stephen) DeCapua; his son, Bradley (Amy) Kinkade; and four grandchildren, Morgan and Grant DeCapua, and Sydney and Riley Kinkade. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia (Michael) Bolin; two brothers, Robert Kinkade and John (Susan) Kinkade; and brother-in-law David (Linda) Lombard; in addition to many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ella Kinkade; a sister-in-law, Royleen Kinkade; and nephews Michael Bolin and Anthony Kinkade.
Bill enjoyed golfing, gardening and fishing, but above all, cherished his time spent with his children and grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Grumpy."
Bill was a member of the Youngstown Country Club, where he served two terms as president of the club and several terms on the board of trustees. Bill was appointed to the City of Canfield Planning and Zoning Commission Board of Appeals in 1995, where he served for several years. Bill and his family are members of St. Michael Church, Canfield.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, June 15, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at St. Michael, Canfield, preceded by visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Michael.
