Poland - There will be a Masonice Service held Monday evening at 7PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Poland Chapel for William Klingensmith, age 78, who passed away Friday evening at the Hospice House.
William was born March 11, 1929 in Canfield, a son of Donald and Dorothy Weaver Klingensmith.
He had worked at Republic Steel. He retired from Republic Steel Company and Local 1331 United Steel Workers Union in 1983 after 30 years. He served in the Korea War for 5 years as a Staff Sargent in the Air Force.
He was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He was a member if Struthers VFW Golf League. He was a member of the Eagles Club, Saxon Club, and a honorary member of the Pacentrano Club. He also did volunteer work at the Lowellville Rod and Gun Club.
He was a member of the 2nd Degree in the Scottish Rite Valley of Youngstown. As a Master Mason, Bill was a member of Wick Lodge #481 in Youngstown. He was a member of the Al Koran Shriners Temple in Cleveland and Its Royal Order of Jesters. He was a member of the Youngstown Shrine Club, where he served as its president in 2001, a member of the cook club, and a hospital can driver for 8 years.
He leaves three sons William Janice Klingensmith of Berlin Center, Jay Sarah Klingensmith of Trinity, NC, and Robert Klingensmith formerly of Youngstown; also Linda Mauerman, his sufficient other, whom he resided with for the past year of his illness; and four grandsons Eric, Brian, Johnathan and Nicholas.
William is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Helene Organ.
Family and friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
