POLAND - Services will be Friday at 1:30 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel for William E. "Cooney" Kreuzwieser age 79 of Poland who passed away Monday evening at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
Cooney was born January 19, 1926, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Conrad John and Hazel Dell Sauer Kreuzwieser.
A graduate of South High School, he had served in the Navy during W.W.II, and later worked at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Corp. in its Open Hearth. He then served as a firefighter for the Youngstown Fire Department for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. Bill had attended Kent State University, Youngstown College, was a member of Kappa Sigma Kappa Fraternity, the Police and Fireman Retirees of Ohio, and the International Association of Fire Fighters. Cooney had belonged to the 12 step program for over 20 years, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife the former Dolores E. Osberg, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Dell Parker, and Irma Radar, and two brothers, Charles and John Henry Kreuzwieser.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Thursday, and for 1/2 hour prior to services Friday afternoon at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
