CANFIELD - Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for William J. Malone, 92, who passed away Sunday at his home.
William was born Aug. 14, 1920, in Cleveland, a son of the late Lawrence J. and Anna (McGowen) Malone.
William was a 1938 graduate of East High School. He served in the Army during World War II.
William was a crane operator for Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 35 years. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union and was a Workers Compensation representative. He also enjoyed repairing televisions. William loved his great-grandson, Payton Michael Novak, he was the light of his life.
William leaves two sons, Patrick Malone of Canfield and Andrew (Elaine) Malone of Lowellville; a stepson, David Slagle of Green Township; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
William was also preceded in death by his first wife, Clare (Wayne) Malone, whom he married June 30, 1951, and passed away Nov. 6, 1982; his second wife, Doris E. (Slagle) Malone, whom he married Nov. 19, 1989, and passed away March 7, 2005; a son, Michael Malone; a stepson, Dean Slagle; four sisters, Esther, Catherine, Mary Doris and Thelma; and two brothers, Jack and Francis.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
