William Mchenry

November 17, 1929 — May 4, 2017

A Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10 AM at St. Christine Church for William F. McHenry, 87, who passed away Thursday, May 4th at Heritage Manor.

William was born Nov. 17, 1929 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Foley) McHenry.

William graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and served in the United States Army with the Military Police. He was a boiler maker for US Steel, Vice President of McHenry Industries and owner of AMB Signs. William was also a member of the VFW, United Irish of Southwest Florida and the Mahoning Valley Gaelic Society. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, enjoyed camping, and loved spending time with his family.

His wife of 54 years, the former Margaret J. O'Connor whom he married Oct. 6, 1956, passed away Nov. 7, 2009.

William leaves his seven children, Bill (Sandy) McHenry of Medina, Peggy (William) Peterson of Charlotte, NC, Philip (Kim) McHenry of Treasure Island, FL, Paul (Jodi) McHenry of Canfield, Brian (Lori) McHenry of Warner-Robins, GA, Kevin (Gina) McHenry of Canfield, and Mary Kay (Thad) Tokash of Tallmadge; sixteen grandchildren, Stacey, Andrea, Danielle, Nicole, Emily, Matthew, Alyssa, Connor, Keelee Shea, Taylor, Lauren, Cassie, Kelly, Scott, Liam, and Jacob; and a sister, Alberta Joyce of Rocky River.

William was also preceded in death by a son, Robert J. McHenry and brother Edward.

Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery with a military service

The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of Heritage Manor and Southern Care Hospice for the love and excellent care given to our father this past year.
