William Moran

YOUNGSTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church for Mr. William "Bill" Moran, 87, who died early Friday morning at the Inn at Christine Valley.

He was born March 5, 1927, in Youngstown, a son of Francis J. and Mary Louise McHale Moran.

Bill was a graduate of Ursuline High School and had attended Youngstown State University. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Bill had worked at the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation and Shutrump Companies and then went to work at A.P. O'Horo as an operating engineer.

He was a longtime member of the Catholic church, a 60-year member of the Operating Engineers and also played in the Boulevard Golf League.

Bill was married to his lovely bride, Jeanne M. Collins, on Feb. 26, 1949, and she preceded him in death Jan. 23, 2013.

He leaves two daughters, Maureen "Muffin" (Richard) Marlowe of Youngstown and Meredythe "Maggie" Lipinski of Miamisburg; three sons, Michael (Cheryl) Moran of Austintown, Mark Moran of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and Matthew (Cynde) Moran of Clearwater, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Richard (Alicja) Marlowe, Patrick (Shelly) Marlowe, Timothy Marlowe and fiancé Kirsten Verplank, Macy Marlowe, Lindsey (Charles Barrett and his son, Brack) Lipinski, Walter Lipinski, William (Brittani Sargent) Lipinski, Nathan (Jessica) Savon, Kayla and Matthew Moran; two great-grandchildren, Riley Savon and Harper Shea Marlowe; brother-in-law Jack Leetch; niece Michelle Moran Chiodo; and several nephews and nieces.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Frank Moran; and son-in-law Walter Lipinski.

Friends may call on Monday from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Inn of Christine Valley for their care of Bill.

Memorial contributions may be made to MVI Hospice or to St. Dominic Church in memory of Bill.
