William Mulligan

COLUMBIANA - William David Mulligan, 86, died peacefully Saturday, April 12, 2025 at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center.

William was born April 10, 1939, in Youngstown, the son of the late William and Theresa Copple Mulligan Sr.

He attended Ursuline High School. William proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. for three years.

William devoted an impressive 33 years of his life to General Motors, where he worked as a general laborer and in the paint shop. His commitment to his career was mirrored by his subsequent role as a bus driver for the Boardman Schools, a position he held for 11 years after retiring from General Motors.

Known for his gentle and caring nature, William was a devoted family man who cherished the moments spent with loved ones. He found joy in simple pleasures, including bird watching and fishing, passions that reflected his appreciation for the beauty of nature.

William is survived by his wife, the former JoAnn Triveri, whom he married Oct. 6, 1962; daughter, Kathy Mulligan of Columbiana; sisters, Joan Susor of Poland and Pat (Ed) Gailey of NC; brother Edward (Sandy) Mulligan of Poland; granddaughter, Ashley (Andy) Smith; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Kenny and Vera.

He was preceded in death by his son, William D. Mulligan III; and sister Mary Mulligan.

Family and friends may call Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 10 to 11 am at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 11 am.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center for their care and compassion of William especially during his final days. Memorial tributes may take the form of donations to Akron Children's Hospital, 6505 Market St. Boardman, OH 44512.
