AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church for William R. Reents, 83, who passed on to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, at home from renal cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
"Bill" was born Nov. 19, 1926 in Youngstown, the son of Paul and Margaret Swank Reents.
He served in the Army during World War II. He worked at Swedlow's Plastic, Loblaws, Professional Auto Body, and retired from Ohio Water Service in 1992.
"Wild Bill" earned his pilot's license, built his own airplane, a KR1, and flew for over 20 years. He belonged to the EAA Experimental Aircraft Association. He was an accomplished artist, displaying his artwork at local art shows and painting for family and friends. He had a great sense of humor, loved listening to his music, going to the gym, rollerblading and working on his computer. He was also a "Mr. Fix-It." His family is left with awesome memories and the knowledge that they had the best husband, father, and grandfather ever.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife of 58 years, the former Frances Traino; a daughter, Deborah Carl Alexander of Austintown; two sons, Gary Frances Reents of Tipp City and Mark Carrie Reents of Mershon, Ga.; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Lisa Simkins, Alison Marker, Melissa Russell and Matthew Alexander; three great-grandchildren, Adam Marker and Jeffrey Jr. and Alexis Russell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Reents; sisters, Thelma Buzelence and Audrey Ogarek; and nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation for the love, support, visits, and phone calls from their family, friends, and neighbors.
The family will be receiving friends Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 444512.
