Canfield - Prayers will begin at 10:00 AM Monday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. Michael Church, Canfield for Mr. William James "Tex " Ritter age 76, of Canfield who died Thursday morning at Forum Northside Medical Center.
He was born November 12, 1933 in Youngstown a son of Stewart and Sue Duffy Ritter.
Tex attended the Rayen School, Youngstown College and Rutgers University, He was employed by the Youngstown Police Force for 25 years obtaining the rank of Sargent. He was a member of the FOP Lodge 28 and was instrumental in starting the first Driver's Educational Alternative Program. He also worked for the Honorable James McNally at the Juvenile Justice Center and was member of St. Michael Church.
Tex loved his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them participate in various sports.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Louise Angelillo who he married Feb. 23, 1957, three sons Bill Chrys of Boardman, Michael Jennifer of North Lima and James Mary Ritterof Canfield, three sisters Gladys Buksar of Boardman, Helen Ted Nogay of Hermitage, PA and Dorothy Fox of Youngstown; 2 sister -in-laws Elizabeth Angelillo of Poland and Margaret Ritter of Kinsman, Ohio,
8 grandchildren Samantha Phillip Detec, Chrystin, Julia, Patricia Lynn, Anthony, Daniel, Jamison and Madison and a great grandson Phillip Joseph Detec.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Pauline Weimer, 2 brothers Thomas and Paul Ritter.
Friends may call Sunday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel and one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Monday.
