CANFIELD - Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for William J. Specht Jr., 89, who died Sunday afternoon at Briarfield Ashley Circle.
William was born Feb. 10, 1927, the son of William J. and Margaret Horvat Specht.
He was a graduate of the 1945 class of East High School and attended Youngstown College. William served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and also the Korean War as a Navy Corpsman. He worked as a foreman for General Electric's Youngstown Lamp Plant and the Austintown Coil Plant for 44 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 607 and served as commander, the Civil Service Commission for the City of Canfield for many years, the GE Quarter Century Club, and St. Dominic Church, where he served as an usher.
His wife, the former Helen Glowacky, whom he married Jan. 30, 1951, died June 17, 2015.
William was devoted to his family and will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his son, William J. Specht III; and sister Patricia Specht (Gary) Frazier.
